Spend a day creating your very own greenwood workers chopping block and mallet. These invaluable tools are the foundation of being able to make spoons, cups, bowls and all other manner of craft items.
This course is for anyone who would like to be able to take their greenwood working journey further by making the tools needed to make items at home or in the workshop. The course is more than learning to create a chopping block and mallet for greenwood work, it can be used to create a rustic table and who doesn’t need a hammer around the home or at the campsite for that next adventure. Above all else, it’s a chance to reconnect with the outdoors and switch off from all of life’s little stresses.
What to bring
All tools and materials will be provided but do bring closed toe footwear, practical and warm clothes, and a packed lunch (tea, coffee, biscuits provided).
What you will learn
• Safe sawing and axe work techniques
• Greenwood carving skills
• Creating mortice and tenons for the legs
• The joy of using a shave horse and draw knives
• Some simple leatherwork to create an axe hanging loop
